Our members take part in activities including; mounted games, flat work, cross country, pole work, formation riding, mini-eventing, camps, pony racing, beach rides and moor rides. Last year we organised a huge range of events to suit all ages ridden and non-ridden. We are a busy club and never a week goes by without some different session to join onto.

South Devon West Pony Club often compete in areas, zones, regional and nationals in disciplines including eventing, show jumping, dressage, horse care, mounted games, pony racing, triathlon and tetrathlon.

As well as attending competitions we also organise and run a number of competitions throughout the year which some of which are open to non-members or inter-club.

We promote and encourage horse care across all ages leading to formally recognised qualifications.

Parents and Pony Club

The Pony Club is a voluntary youth organisation for young people within an equestrian environment.

The Pony Club’s purpose is:

  • To encourage young people to learn to enjoy all kinds of sport connected with ponies and riding.
  • To give instruction in riding and horsemanship and to educate Members to look after and take proper care of their animals.
  • To promote the highest levels of sportsmanship, citizenship and loyalty to create strength of character and self-discipline.

The Pony Club depends on parents and guardians to help foster caring and respect for all to create an environment where fairness takes precedence over competitiveness. The Pony Club sets out expectations on behaviour on their document The Role of Parents which we strongly encourage you to read.  When you join your young person(s) we will automatically expect you to adhere to this document.

If you are concerned about a child or young person please contact our safeguarding officer listed here or you can contact Head office.
